Hi All,
Yesterday was my first marathon. And after all that training... I fell to pieces.
My prep was plagued in injury and illness in the four weeks leading up to the race. I had a back injury that kept me from running from 4 to 2 weeks out from the race and a virus just before the race.
I didnt feel good from the start and from 14K onwards I had problems keeping any water or gels down.
I was aiming at 4:15 - 4:30, but after like Tesso I started taking walk breaks at 29K and walked from 39 to 42K ran the last 200m to make myself look good and finished with an abominable 5:30.
But hey, lets look at the positive side: at my next marathon I can aim for a 1hr improvement on my PB. Now that would be impressive.
I was really impressed with the atmosphere in the Gold Coast for the race - the whole community is behind it.
Will I be back? I hope so
by thw way...
